An emulsion is the general term for a suspension. Emulsions are homogeneous mixtures used in particular for the production of high-quality asphalts, and, in turn, as binders in road construction, where they produce a very high final strength, despite their initially flexible processing consistency. The Matthäi group's developments have played a decisive role in shaping modern emulsions used in road construction.
